  1. A contagious superficial pyoderma, caused by Staphylococcus aureus and/or group A streptococci, which begins with a superficial flaccid vesicle that ruptures and forms a yellowish crust; most commonly occurs in children.

Syn: impetigo contagiosa, impetigo vulgaris
