Of course, medications react different on all people. The 1st time I took it (4mg tablet), I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and passed out. I yelled out for my husband as soon as I felt the blood draining from my head. We called the Doctor the next morning and he said, “this is not the type of med you take to function, including walking”,:-), at least not in the beginnin...

Terrible nightmares! I had a bad experience with this drug. It seems like a psych med rather than a muscle pain med. I had severe anxiety that came suddenly after taking this crap and it is useless for muscle spasms. I used Soma for over 7 yrs with no problem, no addiction, no adverse side effects, no dependency other than I took it because it WORKED. Take it from me, this Tizanidine puts u in a T...

I almost fell just trying to get to my bed, I was like a drunk walking out of a bar. Every time I closed my eyes to go to sleep I would see scary images and had the most scary dreams and nightmares I ever experienced in my whole life went to bed around 12 midnight to 8 am was horrible I had to ask my husband to keep the lights on I kept telling him what is in this meds. What’s the use of taking a pain med to only experience these side effects . Never again I can tell you that!

Due to my age and being on medicare, this is the drug chosen for me. It has not had nearly the side effects of other muscle relaxers. Yes, it makes me a bit sleepy, but no constipation and I do not feel so drowsy when I get up in the morn. It helps my muscle spasms, but wish it did more. If I take a second one through the night, more helpful, perhaps but then I can feel pretty groggy. I suggest trying it!

In 2006 I fell down our stairs at home. I had a myriad of medical problems ever since. My last MRI in May: Reversal of cervical lordosis again suggests spasm. Minimal scoliosis. Mild to moderate facet hypertrophic changes at multiple levels. C3-C4: C3-C4, there is mild broad-based bulging disc with mild left and minimal right foraminal encroachment. When compared to the prior, mass-effect here looks generally stable. C4-C5: At C4-C5, mild broad-based bulging disc contributes to mild to moderate central stenosis with minimal right and mild left foraminal encroachment, comparable to the previous. C5-C6: At C5-C6, broad bulging of the disc with mild central stenosis along with minimal left and moderate right foraminal encroachment, similar to the previous. C6-C7: At C6-C7, mild bulging disc most pronounced at the right paracentral and proximal foraminal level. Mild central stenosis with mild bilateral foraminal encroachment, similar to that seen on the previous. C7-T1: At C7-T1 demonstrates minimal bulging of the disc centrally with mild central stenosis along with minimal left and mild right foraminal encroachment I was getting cervical epidurals about every 2 years at C7-T1 level. For maintenance between epidurals I was taking Tramadol and Flexeril. I also do Physical therapy at home and have a Tens unit. This past fall two weeks before Thanksgiving I started getting a burning sensation from my shoulders and between my shoulder blades. This was new to me and it was excruciating and debilitating. I finally got my epidural Dec 21. The first few days pretty darn good and then a steady increase of the burning sensation. My follow up from the epidural was Jan 12. By the time of my follow up I had stopped being able to sleep. I ended up in tears from pain after my doctor examined me. I said something about the flexeril has been doing nothing at all to help and he start me on the Tizanidine HCL 2 mg tablets up to 4 times a day. My husband got the prescription filled that evening. I am allergic to so many meds I was nervous about how this would work. It definitely makes me a little dizzy and a lot groggy but it helps. I've only been taking one in the morning, then late afternoon and right before I go to bed. It's only been 3 days but each day has brought more relief. I honestly don't know what I would have done if this had not worked, the burning sensation and pain in my neck and muscles was by far the worst pain I have experienced, including child birth. I run low blood pressure so I am monitoring it more closely and definitely make sure I stand up as slow as possible. But I will continue to take it as it appears that the burning and pain is reduced a little more each day. Read More Read Less

I generally pay attention to medication side effects so I know if what I experience after taking the medication is related or not. I don't have placebo type side effects, meaning I don't experience them because I know they're possible. Looking into the side effects of Tizidine, sleepiness was expected. Weird and vivid dreams and/or nightmares wasn't expected at all, and boy did I have them. The script was for me to take the medication three times a day. I just couldn't do it. For starters, it was extremely hazardous as I was so sleepy I could accomplish anything. Then, I would experience seeing things, normally movement or light out of my peripheral view that wasn't there. I dropped down to simply taking one at night as that was when my shoulder would go into spasms. This caused extreme grogginess and a general feeling of exhaustion to the point I didn't want to get out of bed. Things got worse when I ended up with walking pneumonia and was prescribed ciprofloxacin. These drugs do not mix. I got my king infection cleared up after being extremely sick for three months (two weeks at the end were the worse due to the Cipro) After completing the course of antibiotics, I started exhibiting signs of prostate enlargement. It was pretty sudden. I had a slight problem urinating and felt like I had some minor obstruction when urinating. Men would know what I'm talking about if I explain it's the feeling of using a urinal and you've not quite cleared your pants or underwear and either is pressing up against the bottom, behind, the testicles putting pressure on the urethra. I recently stopped taking tizanitine and my issues, day by day, are diminishing. I'm at a point where the medication isn't working as intended anyway, and I wasn't talking more than one dose a day so I've experience no withdrawal effects. I'm generally not a proponent of taking medications, especially muscle relaxers, or pain killers, however, if my doctor wanted me to take this again, I'd have to request another drug. I barely worked when I took three a day, and one at night, I believe, knocked me out so much I didn't recognize the muscle spasm until it was bad enough to wake me. Soma has always worked, whereas other medications similar to tizanitine do not. I don't feel high or be in any kind of altered mental state on any of these remediations, so from a pure effectiveness standpoint, this just doesn't work. Read More Read Less

I have damage to my cervical and lumbar. This drug decreases the pain to a level where I can sleep most of the night. Before starting on this medication, I would often wake up during the night due to the pain. The only side-effect is that I do not have as much energy during the day compared to the periods where I will stop taking the medication.

I had an accident in 2010 and had my entire left side vertebrae fx from C3 to L5. This medicine has made me hallucinate, faint, have irregular heart rate, have muscle twitching in my legs, but it is the only medication that helps me sleep. I take 4mg w 50mg of benadryl every night.

Injured back during awkward lift of lightweight object from my car. Spent that night in emergency room because of pain treating as back spasms. 2 morphine injections, 2 valiums and other anti-inflammatories still had pain but they finally wheeled me to my car to go home. The drugs from emergency room and anti-inflammatory meds calmed it but still could hardly function at home. Went to my doctor and he prescribed these muscle relaxers and it was the right choice for me. I felt so much better and returned to work. I was given 4mg 2X a day. I take it after eating in the morning and after dinner. It REALLY makes you drowsey. My first few hours after the med sets in is not very productive but it eases with time. Also it causes dehydration. Keep water nearby. Use caution. Drive then take meds but not before and it lasts a good 6-8 hours. Benefit outweighs the side effects for me.Read More Read Less

took 4mg tablet when going to bed as my doctor said it would relax my leg muscle and help me sleep. NOT I had terrifying nightmares all night long!! I started them around midnight I guess and was still going on at 8am the next morning. I was so scared I couldn't force myself to get out of bed I hid under the covers. Finally at 9 am forced myself to get up and call doctor. She said not to take anymore. But my throat is swollen and having trouble breathing. She said to drink hot tea to help. I will never ever take this stuff again! Neighbor said it sounded like an LSD trip. I am 72 yrs of age. Never tried and LSD or other drugs so if this is what happens don't want to either.Read More Read Less

Ive got a spinal stim and permanent nerve damage. I take this med every night. It does knock you out. So only take it when your ready to sleep. It does give dry mouth pretty bad, worse if you fight to stay awake or wake up after an hour or two. But ive missed a dose one night and the charlie horse was enough to pull the muscle in my calf. Weeks later and it still hurts from pulling it. It works but you have to take it.

Iâ??ve had constant neck and shoulder pain after sustaining an injury, have taken this Med for 3 weeks. When I take it, I am a little dizzy and tired. I get some pain relief but itâ??s definitely no where near from being gone. Pain still makes it difficult to get to sleep and even still wakes me occasionally throughout the night. I was expecting much more relief.

I have had chronic neck pain for 5 years. I am 29 years young. Not normal! I have tried everything.(Procedures, medications, nerve burning) This medication seriously works! I saw scary reviews about nightmares and hallucinations and I did not have any of those side effects. I am so sad Iâ??ve gone this long without this medication. I was on a dose of 6 mg 3 times a day and it worked but I still had pain. My doctor upped my dose to 8 mg 3 times a day for a week and wow. Iâ??m on day 4 and almost feel like a normal human again! Itâ??s a miracle! Yes it makes you exhausted, however I feel like this will be a long term fix to my chronic neck pain and muscle spasms! Going from a pain level 8 everyday to an almost 2 in 4 days. Hope it stays long term ð?¤? Read More Read Less

Took for pinched nerve. I don’t think it actually helped with the pain, just made me so tired I didn’t notice the pain, fell sleep every time I took it. 24 hours after taking it I had horrible dizziness, light headed, and tingling in arms and legs.
