If I take this medication during the daytime, I have to drink at least 16 ounces of water with it otherwise I get nauseous and vomit. I have found a way around this by taking it with 4-6 ounces of water plus an antacid right before going to sleep at night. Then I don't experience any problems with my stomach. If I forget to take the antacid, I tend to wake up with reflux.

Within 20 minutes of my first dose, I was vomiting violently. My doctor indicated that while this wasn't a side effect bad enough to go to the ER, I should discontinue use and he prescribed me a new antibiotic. I ate and drank water with dosing as indicated. The Doctor also informed me that this drug interacts with anti-nausea medication. About 18 hours later, I still feel nauseous. I will always tell my health care providers that this medication cause a severe reaction in me. I will say, that my sinuses feel better today, so It's not all bad, but if you can't stay on the drug, it won't be effective long term.Read More Read Less

I have permanent nerve damage in my hands and feet; no meds have helped

I got horrible flu symptoms from this drug, I thought it was the flu but it was this drug. It occurred 1 to 2 hours after dose and was the worst after 2 days of starting the drug.

After a losing bout with amoxicillin my physician prescribed Avelox however do to the strength of the antibiotic he only wrote a 3 day regimen, it apparently didnt matter as within 6 hrs of my first dose i was feeling a great deal better. Within 24 hrs my fever broke unbelievable. I finished the 3 days with the only noticeable side.. effect being nausea within the first hr of taking it.

had a really bad reaction to this drug. my throat closed up, and thought I was not going to make it. fotunately I was sick to my stomach and threw up. after that I was ok.

I became very jaundice

While on this medication I developed severe back, groin, hip pain. Its been about 6 weeks since I last took the medication and I am finally able to function. I was able to get an appointment with another doctor that advised that I stop take the drug imediately. From that visit I have been in physical therapy for the past 3 1/2 weeks for all the tendon issues. This drug is one to stay away from!

overall it kicked out my pneumonia pretty quick but had nausea, diarrhea, dizziness

i began to have severe muscle spasms with great pain

I am on my 2nd round of avelox it is helping a little but I just cannot get rid of this pheumnoia!I think I need a stronger medicine.On the good side there are not no bad side effects taking avelox.

Ive used this medication twice and it works fast and well.

I was sent to the emergency room after taking Avelox for a bacterial infection of the throat. I had taken two doses and broke out in a rash on my legs and arms. I also had pain in both sides of my waist. Blood tests showed an elevated liver panel, kidney test and an elevated sed rate. I was admitted for two days and was diagnosed with vasculitis. It took months before I began to feel better. Please do not take this drug unless it is a last resort.

I have taken Avelox 3 times for a bacterial infection and it worked great, was better within days. However the 4th time I had taken the first pill and 20 minutes later I had the urge to throw up, but couldn't because my throat was closing, my head, hands and feet turned blood red and began to swell and began to itch. I called my doctor and she told me to take a Zyrtec which I did and also took benodryl. I then had severe upper and lower stomach cramps comparable to labor pains. My doctor told me to go to the hospital right away. On the way about 20 minutes later the sypmtom stopped. I guess I am now allergic. Avelox made me very dizzy

Have taken once before..felt terrible, nauseous, aching. This time left leg swollen double the size, cant bend knee, back ache is terrible, and I dont think it is working at all. 5 days in of 10 prescribed and feeling pretty bad.

1st time ordered for double ear infection, worked great...second time for sinus infection, within minutes started to feel hot waves from my head to toes, optical visions like black clouds rolling across eyes, then the itching started at the top of my head and would roll down all over my body to my feet,woke up my husband and told him that I think we need to go the ER, he turned on the light and took one look at me and jumped up and said "Lets GO". I was fire engine red from my head to toes, even the whites of my eyes were solid red..by the time we got there I was trying to tear my flesh off with my nails, every inch of me itching, I was dizzy and still had optical clouds over vision.....took 2 hours to control with meds from ER, with my husband holding my hands down to prevent me from tearing at myself..and this was a mild reaction to this drug, my sleep pattern is not the same....I will NEVER take this drug again.Read More Read Less

Drug seems to be slow in knocking out the infection. Been using for 7 days out of 14 treatment and have still many of the symptons.No measurable side effects so expect a little nauseau after the 1st pill
