Do not take this poison! This is not "medication." Ever since I've been on amlodipine I've had nothing but bad side effects. This "medication" has triggered my sinuses, made my ears ache, gave me pain in my left shoulder and neck. I woke up with extreme dry mouth one morning. It gave me nasal congestion. I have loss of appetite and it worsen my anxiety. This "medication" as well as Telmisartan are horrible. I do not recommend either of them. If your Doctor put you on either of these "medications" have him or her to change it immediately. Read More Read Less

Started to take 5mg of amodipine in may this year, it was good for the first week then the side effects started to kick in . Heart pulpitations so bad alongside extreme tiredness and body aches i thought that i would persevere and i changed the time of day that i took it . Most of the symptoms went but i was left with brain fog and tiredness that can only be discribed as extreme . I then had a telephone call off my GP stating that the dose should of been 10 mg . I have never felt so ill all the earlier symptoms but 20 times much worst and now i have anxiety and depression and pains in my kidneys . The GP put me back down to 5mg but will not change the medication. My stomach feels burnt inside and my joint are terrible . I am cuting my intake down to 2.5mg with a view of weaning myself off this awful medication. i Had none of these conditions prior to taking Amodipine .Read More Read Less

I took this medication at 5mg a day for 6 days. I had hot flashes, my face went numb, I had fatigue and heavy arms, brain fog and neuropathy in my feet. I stopped taking it two days and feel slightly better but my face is still numb and I still have brain fog. My anxiety went through the roof. I want no part of this!

Were do I begin. For starters, I was rushed to the emergency room 4 different times from taking: Losartan (25mg), Triamterene-HCTZ (37.5-25mg), Metoprolo Succ ER (50mg), and Nebivolol (5mg). My former doctor prescribed these meds and I experienced the WORST side effects (massive headaches, feeling dizzy, weak, tired, fainting, weight loss, irregular heartbeat, heart palpations and spams circling around my heart. After my last visit to the emergency room, I went home (Boston) to see my dearest physician. She immediately switched me to amlodipine besylate (10mg), (5mg AM and 5mg PM) and it has worked great! I've had NO SIDE EFFECTS! My blood pressure has stayed consistently between 120/80 or 130/67. Despite all the people who have a bad experience with it, I Thank God this medicine is working very well for me. Read More Read Less

My doctor insisted I take amlodipine 10 mg for my high blood pressure along with 320m mg of Valsartan. After having severe palpitations for years, I insisted that my cardiologist change my amlodipine to 5 mg. I now have a few palpitations. I wish I had done so a lot sooner. I still do not feel right taking this medication.

Lisinopril stopped working and was making me cough terribly. So doc switched me to amlodipine besylate, and it has worked great for years. I've had NO side effects. My blood pressure has stayed consistently about 128/76. So despite all the people who have a bad experience with it, some of us tolerate it very well, and it works.

Took 2.5 mg amlodipine a day for 9 mos it worked well, then started having horrible upper abdominal pressure & pain, back pain, throat tightness, feeling tired. Skipped taking it for 1 day & felt little better! Called Dr & quit taking it. Dont just stop taking it, Always check with Dr 1st to see if u need to wein off of it. Not weining off of some BP meds can cause a stroke, be safe!

First two weeks on Amlodipine were great. It seemed to be working very well. I then developed lower back pain and abdominal cramping. These were the only symptoms. Stopping it for one day which seemed to relieve a lot of pain. At emerge they and I thought it was the Psos muscle as I'd been trying to workout. On advice I restarted and all the pain fully returned. I have kidney disease and often have adverse reactions to all sorts of medications. It's been helpful to read the reviews.

This has saved my life and I will tell you how. I had high bp, and exercised regularly, especially running. I had alot of stress and at times I would consume thc, and eat poorly.(not everyday). I stopped my heavy thc usage and was able to maintain my regular diet and make additional changes to the fiber intake, and lifted weight less(to help my kidneys not process muscle breakage to an extreme) and kept running the same amount. This medication was the finishing touch to me fixing my life. I regularly have a 90 ish to 115 over 60 to 75. I meditate as well. Alot of the people giving bad reviews I am for certain are obese, old and obese, or don't partake in regular cardiovascular exercise, and they don't mind what they are eating. This drug works only as well as the person taking it. If you think it is a "I can eat even more, smoke even more, and be even less active" card you are more than likely writing a bad review. This drug saved my kidneys it saved my life and I am extremely grateful for it. Stop smoking.Read More Read Less

I have tried so many BP medicines with frustrating results. Amlodipine is the latest. I started out with 5mg daily, but my feet and ankles swelled so much that I could not even get my stretchy shoes on. Doc put me on 2.5mg. Less swelling of extremities at first, but now it is worse than when I was on 5mg. My legs are like stiff stalks of celery with huge duck feet. It is so bad that my ankles' capillaries have bled through. Also, acid reflux is worse on this drug and it gives me an overall feeling of malaise. Calling doc to get off this terrible drug. Note: It did help my blood pressure, but I have also started using the Mediterranean Food Pyramid to guide my diet. Read More Read Less

In my opinion Amlodipine is a poison drug with a vary long half-life. I was given it for hypertension. On day 11 of taking this drug I got brain fog, light headedness, a dull headache and became nonfunctional. My wife had to do all the driving, shopping, paid the bills, etc. This condition lasted for about 3 weeks. Stay away from this drug.

I was on this drug four months. I gained five lbs despite not changing my low carb/exercise lifestyle. Also became dependent on laxatives. It lowered my bp but all bp drugs do.

I've been on Amlodipine bestalate for a few years with no problems, until the manufacturer was changed to Unichem. I started experiencing tingling of my nerves on both sides of my body of the arms, hands, legs and feet. I went to the emergency room because I was about to have a heart attack or stroke, but the doctor found nothing wrong, and I didn't suspect the Amlodipine so I continue taking it a whole month, while my system got worse, like shortness of breath, eye pain, racing heart palpitations, wheezing, dry mouth and lips, insomnia, anxiety, lightheaded, fatigue, weakness, little appetite (I've lost at least 12 pounds). I stopped taking the Amlodipine after realizing this was the problem! When I got the Amlodipine that was made by the original manufacturer (Lupin) it was still triggering the side effects from the Amlodipine manufactured by Unichem! So, my doctor changed my blood pressure medication. Now, the only side effects I still suffer from, until the Amlodipine is all out of my body (because there is no antidote, only time) I still have slight numbness and tingling of mostly my left leg and foot, dry mouth, and nervousness with a little anxiety at night, slight appetite. I'm just hoping and praying that this drug completely comes out of my system. Read More Read Less
