I began taking Crestor (10 mg) in June. My cholesterol level dropped from 235 to 135 in four months. However, I began experiencing hip and knee pain. It became painful to walk, and the pain was so great I was having difficulty sleeping a night. Aleve and Tylenol Arthritis didn't totally eliminate the pain. Overall, my quality of life has been significantly effected. My doctor also takes Cr...

if this drug is so bad, as all the reviews seem to point too, why is it still on the market and being prescriped? I have used it for 1 week and have no bad symptons yet..

I was a Registered Nurse for 25 years before taking Crestor. When I was put on it for minor borderline cholesterol issues, I immediately started having short term memory problems and an extreme exacerbation of peripheral neuropathy from my T1 diabetes. I would cry at the end of the day from fatigue and pain. No one ever suspected it was the statin drug. Eventually, I could not work due to muscle weakness in my legs and back, pain, and muscle spasms. I was declared permanently and totally disabled. All my tests were negative and the doctors just thought I was nuts and ignored my pain! The medical community hit a 'narcotics for pain is bad' kick, and I was refused any relief because "We have no evidence there is any pain to treat", except that my EMG tests showed increasing and accelerated damage which my doctor could not account for. They gave me steroid shots in the hips which drove my blood sugars up and put excess pounds on, but did not relieve the pain for long. I cried and could not sleep for the pain. I told my doctor I felt I was fading and just wanted to die I felt so bad. Yesterday he really looked at my med list and finally took me off the stain and today the pain is half. HALF! I have read about the side effects here and I am scared it may not ever all go away. I have to use a walker to get around. I took that crap for two years! Crestor took my life away!Read More Read Less

Only took this for 10 days. Horrible constipation to the point of impaction. Weeks of trying to clear my system. It's now 2.5 MONTHS later and my digestive system is still not back to normal.

Was put on Crestor for high cholesterol was fine the first 14 days on it only had minor issues (sluggish, tired, restless, focus issues) but thought it was just my body adjusting to a new med boy was I wrong on day 15 I took it in the evening as I was instructed within 30 minutes I was suffering from severe leg cramps that continued to travel to my feet and hands thinking I was dehydrated I started to drink a ton of water nothing helped not knowing what had caused it I took the Crestor again the following evening not good once again I was stricken with the same body pain and cramping as the night before, that is when I realized the only common denominator was the drug. From what I have read here this is apparently a known problem so why prescribe it!Read More Read Less

Took crestor for about 3 or 4 months, had leg cramps that where becoming more and more painful. Told the Dr. office, they said it was a normal side effect. Was on a trip when I got the most painful leg cramps I had ever experience, it got so painful I went to the hospital where they put a loss wrap on it, two days later it cramped again to the point where I went to the ER, after weeks of diagnosis it turned out the leg muscle in my thigth had snapped and torn from the severity of the crammp. Two years out I am still dealing with the effects of the injuury. Never again will I take any meds that cause this kind oof side effect. Read More Read Less

For over 15 yrs Ive been on a statin, starting with Zocor, Plendil and now Crestor. I experienced muscle weakness and soreness until I decided to exercise more and requested a lower 5mg dosage of Crestor. Aetna decided that I should take the generic which I did take for almost 90 days and the muscle pain returned. I'm back on Crestor and the symptoms have subsided. I pay substantially more for the Crestor in 2017 than I did in 2016 and I feel in some way I'm being taken advantage of for Aetna not doing a better job of cost control. Read More Read Less

I'm in Canada and, through the cardiologist, the lipid specialist prescribed rosuvastatin. First day I got the "flu" like symptoms as he told me. Third day both legs were under severe pressure and my spine, lower back and hips had burning with shooting pain. Fourth morning went to the E.R. at the local hospital. My blood pressure was extremely high and they steadily increased the morphine until the pain subsided. After the blood results, the resident doctor indicated the cramping appeared to cause the ciatic nerve to go ballistic. The cramping appeared to be from the rosuvastatin. I have been using a pain killer for the last two days and the pain still resides in my lower muscles. Lipid specialist said to stop his prescription and wait until my next scheduled appointment to see him. That's in 7 weeks. Something very wrong with this picture. ps I' m 5' 7", 61 and weigh 160 lbs., don't smoke, rarely drink and in decent shape. Just stuck with 'lousy genetics" I.e. High Cholesterol. started off ok, the first week or so. after some tests the doc did, i went to crestor from another statin. i am really thankful for these reviews because i thought i was going out of my mind! Panic, worry, mussel aches and pains, and felt like i was on fire on my insides. Not good for me at all. So happy for those it does work for. Thought I was the only one who suffered, wanted to share my side effects.

After using Lipitor with severe muscle aches in my legs, I was told Crestor would not be as bad...Not so, after two weeks severe muscle cramps in shoulder with no relief along with high heart rate, no sleep. I stopped the drug to save my life.

I was unable to take other statins as they caused leg pain and started Crestor about 10 months ago. It has been great at reducing my cholesterol but I am now having severe muscle weakness in my arms and legs, unable to walk at times and unable to even lift a small cup to take a drink of water at times. The weakness will wax and wane throughout the day. I stopped taking crestor and I am wondering how long it will take to see if my condition improves.

Crestor oral only Statin that actually lowered my numbers-250 to 118 within 4 weeks. No other Statins ever worked on me. Numbers always stayed the same. I didn't notice anything major until I tried to go up a flight of stairs and couldn't make it up even one stair. No muscle strength at all. I've always had horrible reactions to every statin tried... constipation, severe muscle pain, shuffle walk, memory loss, and on one hallucinations. I had a couple of severe muscle cramps on Crestor in the beginning but not as bad as other statins, this complete loss of strength was the worst. Stopped taking it and slowly regained strength over 4 months but still weaker than before Crestor. Numbers raised and Doc recommended just 1x a week with lowest dosage. Took only one Crestor and every muscle fiber head to toe felt like it was on fire. I took myself off.Read More Read Less

This drug turned my husband's life into a living nightmare for 10 years. It ruined our lives. He went from able bodied to a wheelchair and, still, the doctors wouldn't take him off this poison. When he went off it, the symptoms slowly started to reverse. If there was a class action lawsuit in Canada, our names would be on it. Poisonous filth that nearly killed my spouse.

In 4 weeks, my cholesterol has gone from 236 down to 143. I have been trying to eat better and exercise more since I started taking it. I have noticed some minor aches and pains in my legs, but not a big deal. As I said, I have been exercising more and that could be part of it.

About three weeks ago my cholesterol was 236. I have been using Crestor for about 2 weeks now along with a few other meds for HBP and sugar levels. I just had a health screen yesterday and my number is now 135. Of course, I have totally changed my diet. Smaller portions, and totally cut out fatty foods. I do ocasional workouts but overall not as active as I would like to be. But its helping me and so far in 2 weeks I have lost 15 lbs.

I had a by-pass at age 36...colestrols were normal. 15 years later I had another M.I. Requiring stents. I was put on simvasatins. 3 years ago my statins were changed to Crestor 10mgs. I'm 65 now and over these years I've noticed I have trouble choosing the correct word whilst speaking. My memory is excellent just a speech issue. I've also, (since commencing the meds) had an issue with bladder urgency. Some days good others not so. And I've developed a cataract. I realise age may have a play here but all the same it does correlate to my cholesterol meds.Read More Read Less

I have been using this drug along with lipitor, Zetia and all the generic brands for several years. With all of these drugs I have experienced muscle pain to the point that I can barely walk. No energy and short term memory loss mostly with creator. It also raises my liver enzymes and now have to have to monitored. I took myself off this drug. Dont like the side effects.

MY DAD TOOK THIS DRUG AND MADE HIM TOTALLY DEPENDENT ON EVERYONE. COULD NOT EVEN WALK ON HIS OWN. HAD MAJOR EFFECTS ON HIS MUSCLES, MEMORY AND HIS HEART. HE WOULD STAND AND HIS LEGS WOULD GIVE OUT ON HIM. WHEN YOU HAVE TO PICK YOUR PARENT UP OFF OF THE FLOOR BECAUSE OF A MED THERE IS A PROBLEM. WE STOPPED GIVING HIM THIS MED. ENDED UP HAVING OPEN HEART SURGERY. NOW HE IS DOING MOST OF THE THINGS HE WANTS.
