I started taking Celexa 20mg (generic citalopram, its a lot cheaper) The first week of August this year. I was diagnosed with Major Depression and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I take it once a day at night (with food to diminish any possible gastrointestinal side effects). I am feeling 100% better than I did just a few months ago. I could not be more satisfied with the outcome. Before, I could no...

I've taken many different medications and all caused increased weight gain and other unsightly side effects. Since taking this drug my life has been great. It's been one month and my wife and kids are happy when I go on vacation because they all love having me around. Panic disorder-NONEXISTENT

My mother has suffered from Panic disorder since she was a child, she has just started taking this medication, over the past 8 days the change has been amazing. She is now able to do things that she has not been able to do with out having terrior attacks, Driving a car on a 2 lane highway would cause her to have terrior attacks, in just 8 days she is now able to drive and with zero side effects so far.

I was suffering from Post Tramatic stress after 32 years as a police officer and my 3 tours in Vietnam. I tried EMDR and that helped a bit. I had a lot anger and was drinking a quart of Jack Daniels every 3 or for days. I was having nightmares to a point that I didn't want to go to sleep. I started taking 20mg a day about a month ago and feel great. No more nighmares and my drinking is almost down to nothing. The side affects are and were very mild. Works great for me.

Used this drug to treat some post-partumn induced depression (have a history of depression). I really got me through a rough time. I had tried generic prozac but it was not effective for me. It evened me out more and eventually I was able to get off it.

I got all the side effects to this medication especially the irritations and the anger with it. I hated this drug.

I started to feel more like ME after just a few weeks. I started on 2o mgs and did well for a year. Then I had some major family trauma and major life changes, and started on 40mgs. I've been on 40 for a week, and I feel good. My Doc keeps a close eye on me and together we will work to lessen the dose and maybe even stop it altogether. I am very happy with my results of therapy with Celexa.

I had severe depression and was reliving childhood abuse trauma through nightmares. I tried taking Celexa in the morning but it made me too sleepy to function. I take it at night and sleep well without any nightmares. It has returned me to a sense of normalcy--not feeling high like some other drugs tried previously. I've had no side effects and I'm generally sensitive to medications.

Side effect of "urinary difficulties" was an understatement---was up 10 - 15 times a night----loved how I felt all day, but just too exhausted from no sleep---and I tried this drug 10 years ago with same effects... wish I could stay on it, but....need to sleep sometime...

Helped control major mood swings. Made me very dizzy and unable to focus at first, but after lowering the dosage I was able to gain control of that. I have worked well at this lower dose, but it might be time to up it after a year. I had tried Paxil and Prozac previously, and this has by far been the best.

While probably not for everyone, Celexa has made a wonderful difference in my ability to deal with severe depressive episodes (as well as normal day-to-day events) in my life. It has no side effects such as weight gain. I have not attempted to stop taking it, however, I went through a terrible withdrawal from Paxil a few years ago. Hopefully, Celexa won't produce similar results. I'd recommend trying it to see if it works for you. If not, try another remedy.
