this med works along with other medications I take .. most adverse symptoms of feeling tired or zombie is due to, as my cardiologist says, because your body is used to functioning on high blood pressure .. therefore you body goes thru a with draw like stage as it gets used to lower blood pressure .. as your body gets used to running on lower pressure, than most symptoms will disappear .. its scary...

My condition is high blood pressure. I was already taking other meds to lower my bp. It would spike ocassionally. My last readings at dr.s office was 146/75. Which is not that high. Dr prescribed hydrazaline 50mg 2x a day. I started taking it and instantly a really bad headach. I continued for a week and side effect got worse. Irregular heart rate with tightness, diarrea, lack of appetite, extreme ...

was diagnosed with post partum hypertension a month after my son was born so I was put on 10mg hydralazine 3x a day. Was running 180's/100's and it brought it down to 130's/80's. Have had no major side effects just a slight dry mouth. 4 months later my bp has climbed to 140's/80's so I'm being switched to losartan, hoping it works.

Dr prescribed hydrazaline 50mg 2x a day. I started taking it and instantly a really bad headach. I continued for a week and side effect got worse. Irregular heart rate with tightness, diarrea, lack of appetite, extreme tiredness and weakness, itching to name a few. I discontinued on my own. Sometimes its just not worth it. It actually didnt even lower my bp. After i stop taking it my bp returned back to normal which is about 130/70 for me. Never again.Read More Read Less

Hospitalized with acute pancreatitis and they gave me one dose of hydralazine instead of my usual high blood pressure meds. Shortly after receving that one dose, I had trouble breathing, a very congested head and nausea. I never want to see that medicine again.

I have highly resistant hypertension. I was on valsartan hctz, bystolic, and diltiazem together and still had blood pressure of 175/100. It was not until I added hydralazine 25mg three times a day test my blood pressure wad normalized. My blood pressure is now 110/65. This drug saved my life.

Every once in a while - about once a month - my BP will spike and I have a terrible time getting it back down again. I have talked to someone else that takes it and she said she had the same problem. I don't know if there is a RX that doesn't have side effects. I would like to find a NAUTRAL CURE for my BP instead of just covering the symptoms (which seems to be all RX drugs can do).

Every person is different. There are many drugs I have an allergic reaction to that others can take. I am able to take 25mg Hydralazine tab x2d without issue. My BP has dropped from mid 140s to normal.

I started with 25mg 3x a day, but since hydrazaline did not change my blood pressure from 168-185/85-90, doctor increased the dosage to 50 mg 3x a day. Now my blood pressure hangs around 153/66. Doctor said he wants it lower like to 130/75-80. Besides a racing heart beat, I experience chills a lot; seems like I cannot get warm enough. Also, it made my head feel funny, something like dizziness but not a headache. A pharmacist recommended meclizine to ease the sensation. At times, I become extremely hyperventilated. I will continue this medication, until doctor tells me otherwise.Read More Read Less

I have tried 6 other medications with some pretty severe reactions. I am now on day 5 of 25mg tablets 3x a day. The itch at night is quite substantial. I have nausea and diarrhea daily but my BP is almost normal I talked to my Dr and she said that sometimes side effects take place as my body adjusts so I will give it another 7 days and will call her back unless other, significant issues arise.

I need this drug because I get water around my heart which does an excellent job getting rid of it.

I was prescribed this medication to bring my blood pressure down from 140/82. Within the first day of administering it, I developed arrhythmia that was very frightening because I have never had an irregular heartbeat. This drug is supposed to be taken 3 times per day, but I only took one pill and had to stop because I was so frightened and sick. My heart was pounding and painful, and I was afraid to move or speak. I took my blood pressure several times a day and it has been 5 days and the arrhythmia is just now starting to resolve. My cardiologist has assured me that this will be reversed back to normal once there is no longer any residual substance in my body; however, I do not recommend this drug for anyone and felt that I had to express my personal experience. THis was added to my normal BP meds trying to get 120/80 from a normal 135/85-90. I take two (2) per day of 25mgs. So far day 5 I have had diarrhea ever afternoon starting at 6:00pm. I see it's common side effect and see side effects may taper. I'm also a little zombie like. Not talkative. Just feel like sitting while the episode wears off. My BP is 130/88 which is better than 160/100.

After about 5 weeks on this medication I stopped taking it (120 mg 1/day). I measure my BP regularly and this medication was not having any effect. I felt extremely fatigued (started falling asleep at work), overwhelmed, foggy thinking, and I just wanted to sleep all day. I had a horrible experience with this drug and would never take it again.

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and immediately the doctors put me on this medication. It seemed to be working fine but I then noticed my BP wasn't coming down as it should. It was then I was admitted in the hospital again and my BP was through the roof. They gave me this drug through an IV and my BP would still remain high and they would have to put me on a drip of another medication. After reading these reviews I noticed I was experiencing some of the same symptoms/reactions as others, caused by this drug. While taking this drug my BP remained high, I was experiencing a pounding/fast heart rate, headaches, stuffy nose, tired, feeling like a zombie, you name it, I had it. I stopped taking this drug for one day and all of those symptoms went away. It was like a burden had been lifted. I called my doctor and set up an appointment, hoping he stops this medicine. I would not recommend this medication to anyone, not even my worse enemy. I hope this review helps someone. Read More Read Less

This medication was given to me in the hospital. Within 5 minutes my eyes swelled up and started watering, my heart began to beat funny, my jaw was hurting like I had been clenching my teeth, my head and neck began to ache. I told the nurse who gave me the medicine that I was having these symptoms from it so she called the doctor in order to get something to counteract this obvious bad reaction. I started to not be able to catch my breath from the massive flood of mucus filling my throat and sinuses. I was very scared and started to panic. When the doctor came in and looked at me(mind you the nurse was standing anxiously behind her waiting for some orders to treat this obvious reaction) she crossed her hands and rested then on her stomach stating these symptoms are not mentioned in the medical literature regarding this medication and she turned and walked away! The nurse had to contact another specialist in the hospital to get a Benadryl to give me. So just in case someone else is in need of proof that this medicine causes symptoms like this I wanted to note it somewhere fit public eyes to see!Read More Read Less

So far my blood pressure is under control, and after taking it for 3 weeks, my blood sugar readings are lower than they've ever been--well within the target range my dr. advised. Today, a little shy of a month of usage, I have a joint ache in one of my fingers. I think one of my feet is slightly swollen. When I first started taking hydralazine (50 mg, 2x day), it felt like something was crawling up one of my legs, but that has stopped.
