After reading so many bad reviews on Reclipsen I was really freaked out! I'm 19 and this is the first kind of birth control I've ever been on and IT IS A DREAM! I went from having moderate acne, to no new breakouts. My periods last around 3 days and everything is good! I'm in the middle of my second month and it's great! I had one or two headaches since I started, but that could be caused by other...

I've been on this birth control for almost 4 years now. I have always noticed an increase in anxiety, depression, and a decrease in sex drive when taking this medication. My weight has been fairly stable while taking reclipsen. I've been on Yaz, alesse, and ortho tricyclin before taking reclipsen. I am seriously considering going back to Alesse. Reclipsen is only $10 per month with my insura...

I've been taking Reclipsen for 2 months. The only problem I've experienced is severe pain while on my period. Which is part of the reason I'm not completely satisfied with it ,but the birth control does do its intended function of preventing pregnancy.y acne hasn't changed and I haven't experienced any weight gain at all. I plan to continue taking it.

I have only taken Reclipsen for three months and it's been miserable. My anxiety resurfaced, my headaches are more frequent and more severe, and in the first couple days of taking it, I got this odd, uncomfortable rash on my face and neck. I didn't think anything of it until recently, when my migraines were so severe that they triggered me going into full blown panic attacks. Nothing about my lifestyle has changed other than this birth control pill. I'm going to stop taking it to see if the medication is what's causing these symptoms. Read More Read Less

Been taking this drug for the past several years, and a very similar birth control before that (switched due to insurance), totaling 9 years - never pregnant, never had any noticeable side effects (still weight the same I did in high school), no acne. Before I started taking it, my periods were irregular and heavy; now, they are regular and light, only lasting approximately 4 days. Haven't been off the drug in 9 years, so cannot comment on what coming off of it is like. Crossing fingers for equally as good of an experience!!Read More Read Less

When I was 37, I was put on Apri to help regulate my periods etc. Before that I had been using a diaphram. I used Apri for nearly 15 years and then was switched to Reclipsen because that was what was my insurance would pay for. I was actually planning to go off the pill in a few months and just deal with menopause. However, one month into the Reclipsen, I landed in the hospital with a large pulmonary embolism most likely due to a DVT. I was hospitalized for 7 days and missed over one month of work. I took blood thinners for 9 months. I saw several specialists and it was determined that I had no genetic risk factors for a clot. Other than my age, I had no other clotting risk factors. I am thin, low blood pressure, low cholesterol, never smoked, and was very physically active. After almost a year now, I am just getting my energy level back. I'm still dealing with menopause and am back to the diaphram. My husband and I will always wonder if the PE was in part due to the Reclipsen or if it was just a coincidence.Read More Read Less

My daughter 28 years old was on Reclipsen for one year and developed a DVT in her leg which traveled to her lung and now has a pulmonary embolus. The ER doctor and her pulmonologist both state that her birth control pill caused the blood clot and BOTH highly told her to get off birth control pills. She now is on Coumadin and Lovenox while they are working on getting her INR safely elevated. This is a very emotional time for her having to adjust to a new lifestyle and she has never been a smoker so that was a plus for her. Read More Read Less

I took it for about two months and I have never felt so hungry in my life. I actually gained about 5 pounds (that's a lot on my tiny frame). I count calories and saw the numbers increasing daily since starting Reclipsen. I had a loss of libido too(probably from feeling like I was starved all the time). I would have to eat every hour on the hour and still did not feel full, it was awful. I decided to go back on the Beyaz, which doesn't do much for the libido part, but at least I don't feel like a slave to food anymore. Read More Read Less

Reclipsen is the first bc pill I have successfully stayed on. If there have been side effects, they have been subtle enough that I can't name them! Very exciting after struggling to find a decent birth control method the last 16 years of my life :). I even tried the Mirena IUD & noticed mood swings! I really like this pill & recommend to others who have trouble with the hormones changes of other pills

This BC works, I've never had a scare/gotten pregnant, it's a pill a day and easy to take. However, I am not satisfied. I've been on this pill for a while now, and I believe I've started feeling ill side effects.. I am a very happy person, and I've started becoming depressed and angry. I am occasionally nauseous for no apparent reason, and my sex-drive is non-existent at this point, and that really upsets me because I want to love my husband and I just can't. I'm going to the DR ASAP to either get switched or at least talk about it. I do not recommend!Read More Read Less

I just finished my first pack after being off of birth control for 2-3 years. I am 21 years old. It has been a miserable month. My joints are achy, I have FREQUENT migraines/headaches, I never want to have sex, and most of all I am irritable and on edge. Like, I wanna flip out on someone for any petty reason. I've been taking everything and anything out on my partner. I am making an appt. to switch immediately. The only pro is that my skin seems a lot softer and clearer but I'll take some acne over all of the other God-Awful Symptoms. The doctor was quick to prescribe Reclepsin to me... Seemed kind of sketchy. It is the same level of hormones everyday until you take the placebo pills. Anyway, I would never recommend this to anyone. I'm gonna see about getting onto Ortho-Lo again. GOOD. LUCK!Read More Read Less

Bad headaches, migraines, bloat, moody, hair loss and difficulty losing weight .I work out 4-5 days a week. Weight training and cardio burning 400-1000 calories a day & eat pretty decent. I can not lose any weight no matter what! I gained 20 lbs on this & not able to lose it. Trying microgestin for now.

I was on this pill for several months after having my 3rd baby. after months of bein on the pill my husband an i decided to try for our 4th an last baby. I got off the pill in july. haven't had a period now in over 6 mnths. side effects of coming off have been ridiculous. pregnancy like symptoms, chin hair, cramping. I have ovulated sometimes multiple times a month but have not had a period. I started what appears to be a very rare spotting a couple days ago. but birth control is terrible for our bodies. causes diseases and infertility. has terrible side effects. i wouldnt ever recommend to anyone. do your research thoroughly. I also stopped eating dairy and red meat (research!!! red meat has an extreme amount of hormones!) for the past mnth. idk if its coincidence of the spotting or if changing my diet has helped what appears (hopefully) to be my period coming back. we shall see.Read More Read Less

I was on Reclipsen for less than a year when I was diagnosed with an extensive DVT and several pulmonary emboli. Needless to say, Reclipsen almost killed me. I can never take birth control again - and I would never want to. This is something I will have to deal with for the rest of my life. The birth control companies should be required to give better information and warnings about the possibility of blood clots. YAZ gets all the attention, but any birth control can cause it and ANYONE can get life threatening blood clots. I am only 22 and will be on blood thinners for a year, just got out of surgery, and now have to live my life differently because of choosing to take reclipsen.Read More Read Less

Reading the varied reviews is unnerving b/c all it tells us is that every body is different & you never know what medication will work. I had tried 5 different pills since I was 16, now 28; the original reason having been horrifying periods that were debilitating, with acne. Acne never really improved during those years until Reclipsen, combined with another androgen blocker called Spironolactone- was on both for 2 years, recently quit the Spiro due to getting married and wanting to plan for children someday (it has very serious effects on a fetus). Haven't had any breakouts in 2 years, first ever in my life. From a mood, anxiety, depression standpoint (I've suffered since I was a child), Reclipsen is a non-issue, other outside stressors play bigger roles; from a pregnancy prevention standpoint, it works; from the period itself, those have actually started getting worse each month since May 2012. I have to consider some traumatic events that took place last winter, which greatly increase stress levels/body response, but my bleeding was non-existent until lately. It's been an adjustment. I think I can handle some cramps and heavy bleeding for my glowing skin. I do believe my sex drive is lower, with vaginal irritation and Reclipsen is the only med I take; I literally feel that mentally I will so be in the mood, but physiologically the response can be sooo stubborn. Having spent a lifetime trying to stop the acne, I'm very torn over whether to quit Reclipsen or suffer some of these other changes. Read More Read Less

I'm 17, and have been using Reclipsen for a month and some weeks. It is my first type of birth control, and I'm pretty satisfied. At first there were minor headaches. I'm one of the few teens that never get any acne and this pill has greater improved that. The ONLY downside to this is that 1. the cramps were HORRENDOUS. I cried in bed for 4 hours, not being able to move. This was the first month, so I'm dreading the second period. 2. I had a flu and even though the flu is gone, I can't seem to get rid of this cough and runny nose. Maybe it's because of the weather, who knows?Read More Read Less

My daughter, 22 years old, took reclipsen for 5 months and had severe migraines every month. On the fifth month she had a stroke affecting her vision. She was hospitalized for 5 days. She also had decreased sexual drive and in general didn't feel well while taking it. Her doctors have told her the cause of the stroke was Reclipsen and that she should not take birth control at all anymore. Very serious side effect.

Was having many issues with breakthrough bleeding while taking low-dose pills, so my doc switched me to reclipsen, and after one full month my breakthrough bleeding has completely stopped. Also I think it's helping my skin clear!

I rated the first two questions with five stars because its performing its function (not pregnant), and its a pill which is easy for most people to take. I'm sensitive to birth control, and noticed a marked change in my mood. I'm 29 yrs old, and usually very joyful. Since taking this I've been lethargic, cranky, nauseous, and exhausted. My period is irregular on birth control, so the doctor thought this might be just the ticket because of its chemical components. It may be a wonderful option for others, however the side effects are notable, and were swift. Read More Read Less
