Fevers in Babies and Children Directory
A fever is a symptom of illness, not an illness. It is often related to an infection. Fevers can also be a reaction to a vaccination. Signs of fever in babies include a warm forehead, crankiness, lethargy, convulsion, or seizure. Call a doctor for fever in a baby. Treatment includes using fever reducers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen and keeping the baby hydrated and cool. Most healthy children and adults can tolerate a fever as high as 103 to 104 degrees for short periods of time without problems. If there are other symptoms such as stiff neck, headache, problems breathing, confusion, abdominal pain, vomiting, or diarrhea, you should be evaluated by a health care provider.
