Half a Million More Toys Recalled
Toy Jewelry Recall
Several children's jewelry items made in China were also recalled today due to lead. Those recalls included:
- About 23,500 TOBY & ME jewelry sets from TOBY N.Y.C. of New York. The recall includes various jewelry sets sold in a pink gift box with "TOBY & ME" printed on the front and "TOBY & ME tags attached to the packaging. The products were sold at T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, A.J. Wright, Cracker Barrel, and Shopko stores nationwide from August 2006 through August 2007 for between $8 and $15. For more information, call TOBY N.Y.C. at 866-235-0588 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern time Monday through Friday or email the firm at info@tobynyc.com.
- About 850 Children's Spinning Wheel-Metal Necklaces from Rhode Island Novelty of Cumberland, R.I., and sold from November 2006 through May 2007 for about $2. The necklace has a 30-inch chain and a spinning metal pendant. For more information, call Rhode Island Novelty at (800) 528-5599 between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Eastern time Monday through Friday or visit the firm's web site at www.rinovelty.com.
If the recall of Thomas & Friends trains and TOBY & ME jewelry sets sound familiar, they should. Those recalls expand recalls issued earlier this year.
On June 13, toy importer RC2 Corp of Oak Brook, Ill., (which issued today's Thomas & Friends recall) recalled 1.5 million other Thomas & Friends railway toys because of lead paint. And on Aug. 22, about 14,000 TOBY & ME jewelry sets were recalled.
